You might want to check out an interesting article in Maritime Engineering Journal (Volume 93, Summer 2020), “The Canadian Surface Combatant - Starting a New Conversation on Canada’s Major Warship Replacement Project,” by Cdr Andrew Sargeant. This article is introducing a series of articles to be published in coming months on the CSC project.

Hello,
Interesting to revisit this article, particularly:
“The platform, based on the BAE Systems Type 26 design, will house a bespoke Canadian combat system”…as it now seems, with relatively few Canadian systems.
“CSC Design: CSC is based on the BAE Systems Type 26 design, adapted to Canada’s needs. While this offers a relatively mature platform design”…define relatively mature when none have yet been built and the other concurrent design processes are in constant and significant flux.
“by contrast, the combat system will be designed from the ground up. Even when we are ready to cut steel, the design work will continue, particularly on the combat system”…so try to design and build a hull to an ever changing systems design. How can any ship ever be built and fielded if the systems and end capabilities keep changing?
