The RCN and Unmanned Aerial Systems

There may be much uncertainty in the world today but one thing we can count on is that technology will continue to change. And that means that military forces will continue to adapt to and adopt the technology. In the past two decades, a huge variety of unmanned (uncrewed?) aerial systems has been developed.

Like land forces, navies have found these systems useful, in particular to supplement the work of maritime helicopters for sustained long-range surveillance, extending a ship’s situational awareness over the horizon and beyond the range of its onboard sensors.
