Apparently the British have decided to use a Direct Energy Weapon (DEW) laser system on the Type 26 frigate starting in 2023 (see below). Will Canada do the same for the CSC Frigate? We definitely need something to replace the CIWS and/or SEA Ram on both sides midships. Looks kind of "bare" there as it stands now.

Don’t hold your breath. https://mapleleafnavy.com/if-canada-is-serious-about-the-csc-why-arent-they-part-of-this/
Hi Dave. Not holding my breath yet, but Canada may follow suit and develop our own MoU with the U.K. as well for the CSC Type 26 Frigate. If we are using the BAE Type 26 design for the CSC frigate, you would think that we would also be able to access their “Dragon Fire” technology as well, or perhaps use Lockheed Martins own DEW systems.
As I understand it, the CAMM will replace the CWIS as the close in weapon system.
Agree on CAMM, however if we are not going to use those waists PORT/STBD a-midships then why bother having them. Might as well cut that area out and save some tonnage. A DEW system designed by Lockheed Martin would fit in there nicely Port & Stbd or house the V-200 UAV’s there (not practical there though). Turn it into a Lido Deck for sunbathing. Do something with it! Use it or loose it! Any suggestions?
