Sea Breeze 2021: Ukraine, 29 NATO Allies to conduct joint exercise

UNIAN, International press. 09 June 2021.

In Odessa, Ukraine, organizers have completed planning of the multinational exercises Sea Breeze 2021, which will be held in the Black Sea region (Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Odessa) later this summer.

Sea Breeze is a defensive exercise for NATO Allies and partners to strengthen and fortify cooperation that is essential for maintaining stability in the Black Sea region [1]. Beginning in 1997, exercise Sea Breeze brings Black Sea nations together to train and operate with NATO members in the pursuit of building increased capability [1].

In 2020 the exercise took place exclusively at sea due to COVID-19. U.S. participation included one P-8A Poseidon from maritime Patrol Squadron VP-47 and USS Porter. Total service member participation from the U.S. was approximately 400 Sailors [1].

This year […] the event will involve more than 30 warships, 30 aircraft, and more than 1,400 military members from 29 NATO Allies and partners, according to Ukrainian Navy's press [2], [3].
