Third AOPS Hits the Water

By Dr. Ann Griffiths, 25 October 2021

On 23 October 2021, the third Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship (AOPS) – the future HMCS Max Bernays – was launched into the water of Halifax Harbour. This follows the construction of HMCS Harry DeWolf, which has just transited the Northwest Passage and is on its way south to participate in Op Caribbe, and HMCS Margaret Brooke which is undergoing trials. The future HMCS Max Bernays is not ready to join the navy yet, but it is in the water. Good to see ships appearing. We eagerly await the Joint Support Ships and the Canadian Surface Combatants.
