On 21 March 2020, Canada awarded a contract to Zodiac Hurricane Technologies Ltd for the design and construction of 30 multi-role boats for Canada’s Halifax-Class Frigates. This award directly supports one of Canada’s Defence Policy “Strong, Secure and Engaged” commitments as well as the National Shipbuilding Strategy’s Construction of Small Vessels pillar.
Featuring larger, faster platforms, complete with advanced sensor and communications capability, the multi-role boats will provide the RCN with the modern equipment it needs. These boats will be designed for high-speed military and emergency operations, and will support a wide range of missions including search and rescue, dive support, maritime interdiction operations, humanitarian aid, and disaster relief.
