Professor Rob Huebert's new essay on the state and likely future of the RCN's fleet is well worth reading. It is sure to generate some criticism. As we have said before and will continue to reiterate: a healthy public debate should be the foundation of a meaningful defence review.

I’m sorry, but the essay loses credibility when mention is made of a new “JSS” – a project abandoned by Canada and Norway. Canada chose the Berlin Class AOR, not JSS, in a project that has no guarantees of ever being built.
Thanks for the comment, but I am a little confused by it. The term JSS is still the one that both the previous Conservative Government and the new Liberal Government are using to describe the project. I agree that there is a possibility that the ship(s) that emerge may be actually an AOR (assuming they emerge) but that is the governments ongoing term, So I am curious why my usage of the government’s term causes the article to lose credibility in your view. I fully accept you may disagree with the arguments I make – and I would like to hear thoughts on that.
