Royal Navy Submarine Fire

By Moderator, 8 November 2022

On 7 November the British Ministry of Defence confirmed that HMS Victorious, a nuclear-armed submarine was forced to abandon an operation after a fire broke out on board roughly six weeks ago. The submarine surfaced as a precaution, something that is rarely done these days because of the risk of being spotted by Russian satellites. Victorious had been sailing to a base overseas when the electrical fire started. The blaze destroyed an electrical converter but was quickly extinguished, and no one was injured. HMS Victorious is one of the Royal Navy’s four Trident submarines.
