Third Shipyard for NSS?

October 2019. The federal government has made some changes to the National Shipbuilding
Strategy. The latest was in May 2019 when the government announced that it would competitively select a third NSS shipyard, and later announced that this third shipyard could expect to build six icebreakers for the Canadian Coast Guard. The ships themselves are welcome but the decision about a third shipyard was welcomed in some quarters and criticized in others.
There is an interesting article recently published by the Canadian Global Affairs Institute that examines the topic. It was written by Ian Mack and it’s called “A Third NSS Shipyard.” It’s available at https://www.cgai.ca/a_third_nss_shipyard?utm_campaign=pp_shipbuilding&utm_medium=emai
