China and the Arctic

We're very pleased to announce that one of the members of the CNR Editorial Board has just had a book published.

China’s Arctic Ambitions and What They Mean for Canada  is one of the first in-depth studies of China’s increasing interest in the circumpolar North. It offers a holistic approach to understanding China’s motivations and the potential impacts of greater Chinese presence in the region, exploring resource development, shipping, scientific research, governance, and security. In the wake of China’s January 2018 Arctic policy statement – which only confirmed the importance placed on the Arctic in Beijing  – Canadian understanding of China’s ambitions and priorities is more important than ever.
