Kilford: Back to the future for Defence Review

This is one opinion on the future trends in defence policy but the article is food for serious thought. For instance, can a defence policy review be conducted without a statement of intended foreign policy? Are we now completely certain of Canada's role in the world? From recent statements made on the Canadian position on ISIS, it might seem that Canada is intent on setting a separate course from that of our traditional allies and friends. Will necessary military equipment acquisition be sacrificed on the altar of social engineering? There are many other such questions to be answered before the defence review has a credible point of departure.

For the new Liberal government and despite plenty of evidence to the contrary, it appears that maintaining military hard power is, like … so yesterday.
